General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison Delves Into Drew Cain’s Man Pain

General Hospital's Cameron Mathison Delves Into Drew Cain's Man PainGeneral Hospital’s Drew Cain is a shadow of his former self since being released from prison last fall and everyone around him is noticing the changes.

Who Is This New Drew?

Yes, Drew (Cameron Mathison) spent two years in a Grecian prison thanks to Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy), but apparently, it was being locked in Pentonville for a few months and beaten in the shower that has caused a new darker personality.

Even when Drew returned from the dead in 2021, he wasn’t acting quite like the old Drew. Throwing himself on his sword and volunteering to go to jail for Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) sake was very unlike Drew as he didn’t seem to remember how horribly Carly treated him back in 2018 when she learned he wasn’t really Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

But this post-Pentonville Drew is angry and downright vicious as he tries to enact revenge on Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) for turning him in for a crime that he actually did commit — along with Carly who only got off with a fine.

What’s Behind This Change In Drew?

Although Carly surprisingly told Drew that she wanted to move on and forget about what Nina did, Drew was not having it.

Not only has he threatened her with physical violence, but he coerced her into resigning from Crimson Magazine and then installed a reluctant Carly as editor-in-chief just to get under Nina’s skin.

He’s announced he wants to bring her to her knees and take everything from her and that sometimes sounds downright frightening.

“Drew was beaten up in prison. He’s got PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder],” Mathison told Soap Hub. “He really feels like it’s Nina’s fault. He wants to get back at Nina. He’s not letting it go. Even Carly wants to let it go, but Drew doesn’t want to let it go.”

Mathison went on to say that he is enjoying every minute of playing this darker material, but he also understands where Drew is coming from. “It’s more he realizes life is too short.”

Will Drew’s new attitude lead to more trouble than anyone in Port Charles imagined? And how will Drew react when Carly inevitably dumps him for Jason again?

Tune into General Hospital weekdays on ABC to see how this story plays out.
