Yes, Summer protected her mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Kyle is not in a position to know if he would have done the same in similar circumstances.
Considering Kyle’s feelings about Phyllis, it is likely he would not have shared information with Summer about Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) faking being poisoned by Stafford’s character. Of course, that hypothetical argument can not sink into Kyle’s thick skull.
Kyle went through terrible torment as a child. Diane (then played by Maura West) led him and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to believe she was killed in self-defense by Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) in the park that was not yet named in honor of Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper), as the Grande Dame was still alive in Genoa City, Wisconsin.
Jack sent Kyle away during his youth. He to GC and, after some actor changes became embodied by Mealor. During Mealor’s tenure Kyle and Summer have been hot and cold. But more recently, and in their second marriage, all has gone swell.
Diane was deeply grateful that Kyle forgave her after she revealed never having been killed by Nikki. His mother, father, and Summer have made him believe he is the future king of the Abbott family. That perception helped to make his wife’s mistake appear to be unforgivable.
It appeared that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) was going to explore romance with Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case). That still might happen.
But in the meantime, Summer is suddenly vulnerable. Momentum appears to be shifting to a potential connection between Summer and Chance. This could happen independently from or in response to Kyle’s dalliance with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver).
Summer was told to leave the home she has been sharing with Kyle. The location where she is serving as Kyle’s son’s mother, even though Summer has no biological tie to the boy Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) gave birth to without the knowledge of the character Mealor portrays.
Audra is an opportunist. She is not shy about saying so either.
Tucker McCall’s (Trevor St. John) recent conversation with her involved mutual snark. He left it knowing that Audra would land on her feet.
Kyle is making a major mistake by involving himself with Audra. She sees life as transactional. So, their cavort will become exploitable if she wants it to be.
However, if Kyle is truly finished with Summer, he might see Audra as his new love and pursue her without any necessary compulsion on Y&R.
