Initially, Steffy left John Finn Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) and moved to her grandfather’s house. Finn stayed in regular contact and came to see her on more than one occasion.

The proximity was a difference-maker, as Steffy could not resist her husband’s persistence and the in-person chemistry between them. So, she moved back home believing that they could work everything out.

But Sheila came to the cliff house and barged in. Steffy was spooked, long before Halloween, and had enough. That incident resulted in her leaving the country.

Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) left Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle). That set up what was to come.

Hope’s incessant thoughts about Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) drove her to eventually cheat on Liam with a kiss. Clifton’s character just so happened to be in the right place at the right plot time in Rome, Italy and witnessed his wife’s stunning betrayal.

Steffy has been on Liam’s mind ever since. But he will become drawn into Hope’s drama with her father because of Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) being with Sheila. So, Liam’s focus will be split when Steffy returns.

It was not like Steffy to run away. She is a fighter but prioritizing her children’s safety overrode her desire to rid LA of her mother-in-law.

Finn is confident that he can fix his marriage problems by convincing Steffy that Sheila is not a threat. The Deacon angle expands the potential for Steffy to believe it is safe to return home.
