It isn’t something she can mentally handle, and so after months of pushing her attractions down, she continues denying it is what it is.
After months of denial, more denial—Hope was always the “good girl,” the one who would never turn into her philandering, serial bedhopping mother.
There was a very good reason that Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) had a derogatory nickname for Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and even Hope’s father was an affair.
Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) was married to Bridget Forrester (Ashley Jones) Brooke’s oldest daughter and cheated on her with Brooke-so he wasn’t much better, but it was Brooke who started it.
Shortly before Hope began struggling with her overwhelming sexual attraction to Thomas, Brooke had remarked how glad she was that she wasn’t like her mother. Perhaps Hope had wearied of everyone’s, especially Brooke’s and her own expectations of perfection and the image of “Saint Hope”.
There is much more to Hope’s attraction to Thomas than just the physical aspects-he accepts her the way she is with no expectations of perfection.
He already thinks she’s perfect and if Hope admits her true love for him, she may think she’s a failure of the expectations of herself and her mother.
She truly does care for Thomas, that’s plain-and likely always has in spite of his obsessive ways-she saved his life a couple of times.
She found him unconscious and called Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) who diagnosed a brain aneurysm that had made him hallucinate and nearly killed him.
Hope is also the one who found him locked in a cage in the basement of Spencer Publications, held captive by Justin Barber (Aaron D. Spears) and freed him.
Hope doesn’t want to hurt Thomas, she’s told him numerous times that she doesn’t want to hurt him if he wants more and she never falls in love with him.
But she needs to be honest with herself before she can be honest with him-he seems to accept that, but he’s wanted her so long it’s like a dream come true.
With Thomas, there is no competition, she’s the only one he will ever want, but perhaps she’s afraid she’ll tire of him and hurt him-like her mother has so many men.
Even with Ridge Forrester, (Thorsten Kaye) who Brooke swears is her destiny, she’s dumped him many times in the past.
That’s why Thomas and Steffy Forrester-Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) tried to parent trap him and their mother-is Hope afraid she’ll hurt Thomas like Brooke’s hurt Ridge?
