She is trying to be the best and most supportive wife possible right now, but at the same time, she’s stuffing down all of those uncomfortable feelings she had before Curtis was shot. She hasn’t dealt with those and it doesn’t appear there is going to be much time for her to.
Springing into action as Curtis’ caretaker will take the spotlight right now, but Portia better watch out. Her old feelings of resentment and betrayal could come creeping back into focus down the road.
It’s been all of one day and Portia is already unnerved by Curtis’ mood swings. She can’t imagine the kind of pain he’s going through, but she’s just so grateful that he’s alive. The last thing she wants is for Curtis to spend his days and nights searching the Internet for a cure to something she believes cannot be fixed.
They have a life to live together; even if it’s going to look different now. But Curtis can’t seem to let go of who he feels he used to be and embrace the new life laid out ahead of him — in a wheelchair. Will Portia tire of his resistance soon and remind herself that she was only half in this marriage when he was nearly taken from her for good?
Portia has already changed her schedule to meet demands she doesn’t know exist. Curtis will be able to go home soon and she has fixed it so that she will be there to take care of him much of the time. This is the last thing he wants. Curtis has always been an independent guy.
He was a PI for goodness sake. Alone time is his thing, and now it’s looking like Portia is going to be breathing down his neck every second of the day trying to make him smile or laugh. While that sounds like an excellent wife with good bedside manners, it’s the last thing he’s in the mood for.
Little does Curtis know, Portia isn’t actually feeling all of this change either. But what’s a woman to do when the man she just promised to love forever — in sickness and in health — is confined to a hospital bed and unable to get up and walk out of the room as he pleases?
Amidst all of the chaos, Portia didn’t have time to decide whether she wanted this marriage after learning Curtis kissed his ex-wife, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper). Now, it seems like the worst time to talk about it. But how long can she hurt her real feelings — that she can’t get past it — while pretending she’s a happy wife living her happiest life?
