It’s no secret that Carly will do anything to protect her family, even if it means asking her son to do something illegal. Is she really willing to risk Michael’s safety and that of his family’s to make sure Sonny’s empire stays intact? Moreover, why is it that Michael is suddenly willing to go to bat for his dad in such a major way. He could end up in seriously hot water if anything goes wrong, especially since he’s paying Dex on top of Sonny’s payments. His father certainly wouldn’t appreciate the double agent status, nor Carly’s implication that he can’t handle things on his own.
Carly has laid an important mission in front of her son; he must ensure Sonny’s safety without letting him know about it. Is she all that off base though? Let’s be honest, our favorite mobster has been slipping as of late. Fans have noticed a change in him – it’s almost like he’s grown weaker since he came back from his time away as “Mike.” He doesn’t even realize that Dex has been playing him this whole time! Maybe it’s because of Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros)? Regardless of the cause, the last thing Sonny wants is to be seen as fragile. That’s just his ego.
It’s no secret that Sonny has been lacking a reliable right-hand man by his side, and it’s starting to show. That’s why Carly’s plan to bring Michael and Dex into the mix is a stroke of genius. At first, Michael was hesitant to jump on board, citing the muscle of West Coast-based Brick (Stephen A. Smith) as a potential asset.
But let’s be real, Sonny needs someone who can step up and step in immediately. This is Michael’s chance to prove himself and protect the family. Word on the street is Dex might want this gig, but he’s not going to dig taking orders from Michael the more he grows to respect Sonny. As Dex starts to falter, the question of Michael’s potential as a replacement will loom in Mikey’s mind. Could he rise to the occasion and become the brain behind Sonny’s operations?
Michael probably thought he was in the clear when his wife made it through her bone marrow transplant, but there is another shoe waiting to drop. Right now, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) has no idea that Michael not only handed over the footage of his father to Carly — who destroyed it — but he’s now taken a job essentially facilitating the mob organization.
Willow isn’t going to be keen on Michael’s involvement, nor on Carly for bringing him into it. However, she might be too focused on her recovery to let it bother her much right now. But as Michael grows more interested in Sonny’s business than his own, they’re going to have problems. Is Michael ready to throw his own life overboard for a shot at redeeming himself for going against his dad in the first place? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
