Joss has been thinking about the people who will be affected by Sonny’s arrest and yet, she still encouraged Dex to see to it that he’s sent away for life. What gives, Joss? Lucky for Dex, he knows her well enough at this point to recognize there was some uncertainty in her voice when she proclaimed Sonny should pay for what he’s done. As he continues to press her on her feelings for Sonny — and conveniently highlights the best parts of the don in her presence — Dex is going to grow more confident that he won’t have to carry out this mission after all.
Watching a loved one go to prison is never an easy ordeal, and for Sonny’s children, it’s a heart-wrenching situation — especially for his young daughters. However, Joss continues to hold strong to the belief that it was Sonny and his choices that brought about this inevitable consequence — not Dex. It’s true. Sonny is guilty. He is a criminal. He has killed people. He does traffic drugs and weapons. None of that is manufactured, but that doesn’t mean Joss can’t be convinced justice against him is less important than her family.
Joss can’t possibly be this heartless, can she? Does she really want her little sisters to grow up without a father? She knows how much her own dad — Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) — has been a pivotal force in her life that offered safety and stability when she had none. Sure, Sonny might be a far cry from safe and stable but he’s the only father those girls are getting. Is this really the best way to make Sonny pay — by making them pay, too? Joss might start to have some doubts, but Dex is going to have to work hard on her first.
Joss will soon become acutely aware of Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) lingering feelings for Sonny and this could pose a problem for her. She definitely doesn’t want to hurt her mama! Meanwhile, Dex has been seeing a different side of Sonny lately — one which Kristina Corinthos Davis (Kate Mansi) recently shed some light on by reminding him how much love and care Sonny has for his family and how far he would go in order to protect them. This leaves one question in mind – what does all this mean for Dex’s career in organized crime? If he can get Joss to agree to calling this whole thing off, then he might be able to convince her he’s “stuck” in the mob, rather than having to admit to her it’s exactly where he wants to be.
