With just a few weeks to go before the fall semester starts up, Carly is looking to transform the outdated rooms for rent into an apartment — complete with a kitchen for Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) to rent out. While Joss will be thrilled with the idea, it seems Trina might need a little convincing. What exactly is holding her back and how will Joss bridge the gap when Trina pulls the rug out from under her.
Joss and Trina are in for some exciting news when Carly offers them the opportunity to live together above Kelly’s, and they will hardly be able to wait to get started. This space is perfect for them, and with Carly’s help, they’ll be able to make it their own. Kelly’s is a familiar place that Joss practically feels she’s grown up in. It’s been in the family for years. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) is sure to feel it’s a good fit for her daughter, which will delight Trina, since she’s already feeling like her relationship with her mom is strained lately. Portia doesn’t exactly approve of every move Trina makes, but this one should be okay in her book.
What Trina won’t expect is how much chaos is erupting back home while she’s planning her big exit from the dorms. Trina’s parents are facing some challenges with Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) paralysis.
When she sees how much her mom is struggling to hold it together, she might feel like it’s more important for her to be at home with her family this semester than hanging out with Joss in their new apartment. Trina’s guilt will emerge as she contemplates being away from her family during this trying time, and Joss will have to grin and bear it when she says she can’t live with her anymore.
Joss certainly won’t be expecting Trina to pull the ripcord and head back home. The last thing she wanted was to be anywhere near her mom, and now she’s going to run home to help her while Curtis is at his worst. Joss will understand though; it’s what families do. But that won’t help her figure out how she’s going to cover the expenses at the diner apartment.
Of course, her mom won’t hold her to that lease agreement, but Joss doesn’t want Carly losing money at a time like this either. After all, she does owe the SEC a cool $5 Million. When Joss suggests that Dex could easily cover the bills if he moved in with her, Mama Carly is going to have something to say about that. Will she take her offer off the table faster than Trina did?
