The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mamie Johnson (Victoria Redd) is back in Genoa City, Wisconsin and beefing with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).

Mamie has been gone from town for years, and these two mature women should know better, yet their rivalry is still smoking hot.

What gives, why are Mamie and Jill at each other’s throats, even as Mamie proclaims she is back to heal her fractured family? And, is getting revenge on Jill the real reason Mamie came home?

Marguerite Ray debuted as Mamie in 1980, with the role now played by Redd. Mamie was the John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) family house manager, but she did so much more than cook and clean.

After John’s ditzy wife Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) left the family, Mamie helped to raise Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland).

John was an eligible bachelor and eventually married Jill. Jill was not pleased with Mamie’s presence and she acted like an alley cat who didn’t want to share her bowl of cream with Mamie.

Jill was the lady of the house and she should have been satisfied with that title but her insecurities got the best of her. Jill was not to the manor born, either.

So, when Jill acted like an overlord, Mamie bristled. Unfortunately Jill had an affair with John’s son, Jack, and when the poor man found out he had a stroke.

Devoted Mamie cared for him and nursed John back to health. As she did so she confessed that she loved him. At the same time, John also confessed his love for Mamie.

John eventually recuperated and when Jill found out that he and Mamie had feelings for one another she fired Mamie and gave her a check for a million dollars, provided she leave town.

In 1990 Mamie came back to town and worked again for the Abbott family before retiring in 2004 to travel. Mamie returned once again, last month, and revealed she is the buyer of Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) Chancellor-Winters shares.

Jill had a cow and the feud is back on as Mamie navigates the company Jill has a stake in. But Mamie has a secret partner who could blow Jill’s world up—care to speculate on who that is Y&R fans?!
